Vanessa Horca caught up with Seb Fontaine; one of the most recognized House DJs on the international club scene to ask some questions ahead of his Space Ldn gig at McQueen on 30th Sept 2016

 In news

1. How did you become a DJ Producer and who gave you your first break?

When I was a teenager I used to turn up at parties with my friend Macky armed with a box of tapes that we had spent hours making then not letting anyone get near the sound system. That was the flickering of a DJ career coming to life 🙂 As I got older I just made sure I was at the right parties at the right time, it just grew from there

2. You also found success through your famous party Type at The Cross. What is your fondest memory of your events and who was your favourite guest.

Not sure it would be fair to say I had a favourite guest. Unsurprisingly the biggest parties were  when we had Fatboy Slim or Erick Morillo. I used to love the night with Jaques Lu Cont and Timo Maas though. It was one of my favourite club nights ever.

3. You’ve played around the world at countless festivals and venues, which one springs to mind as your unforgettable moment?

I had the whole of Amnesia sing Happy Birthday once which was a real tear jerker actually.

I was really overwhelmed with what a lovely thing it was.

4. Who would you like to collaborate with next and why?

I had the pleasure of DJing after Dave Grohl in the summer and we had a great chat about music. Next time I’m suggesting we swap DJ lessons for drumming lessons.

5. You’ve played at many AList parties, what makes you return to us every time?

Well quite obviously it’s John and Vanessa 🙂 …. oh and they are always great nights so that helps too

6. What word of advice can you provide to up and coming DJs who aspire to you?

Get out there and do your own nights. Learn what it is to promote and you will have a better insight in to what the promoters need from a DJ coming up in clubland.

Thank you Seb Fontaine! You can all join us at McQueen Shoreditch on Friday 30th September 2016 for Space Ldn party. Tickets: https://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?848646
